NOUN Magazine Summer Issue, Grit, is now available!

Two copies of NOUN Magazine, one opened to show a magazine page spread, and one featuring the Summer 2026-Grit cover.

Centennial College’s Book, Magazine, & Electronic Publishing cohort 2025-2026 was tasked with a special challenge: transform the beloved regionally-focused student magazine, On the Danforth, in order to suit the programs new online-only delivery system.

NOUN was the solution. Focused on all the People, Places, and Things of the Canadian Publishing scene, this student-run magazine’s first spring and summer issues are now live!

From start to finish, NOUN allowed publishing students to create, explore, lead, and learn. I was lucky enough to hold several positions with NOUN and have multiple pieces of work featured in the final issue.

As Production Manager, I was able to work closely with the Publisher and Production team in order to oversee the production of the magazine’s content, schedule and liase with the different departments, and plan logistics for the issue release and execution.

As Graphic Designer, I enjoyed creating magazine layouts for several article formats. It was so cool to look at how the format and shape of the article shaped the design and layout, and vice versa! I never expected to develop a passion for graphic design, but during the NOUN process, it became a fierce love and a source of great pride.

As Web Designer, I was lucky enough to work with both the Summer and Spring issue teams and truly get to work on the most collaborative project, combining two class sections with two differently themed issues into one coherent brand and website, with professional standard form and function! It was so much fun to apply digital publishing and web-focused skills directly. Definitely a steep learning curve, but very rewarding!

As Contributing Writer, I’ve never been more proud of myself. Writing can feel like a behemoth task so often, but with NOUN, the editorial team was so open and driven in vision that I was able to just enjoy the process and have fun with my topics and learning new things.

Endless thanks are due to the Centennial faculty for their guidance, patience, cheerleading, and more passion than I’ve ever seen. Thank you for everything!!!
